Tasting notes
Chateau Thivin Cote de Brouilly 'Le Clos' 2022 presents a vibrant ruby red color. The nose is expressive and refined, with aromas of red currants, raspberries, and cherries, intermingled with floral notes of violets and a touch of minerality. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and well-balanced, showcasing fresh red fruit flavors, a delicate spiciness, and a pronounced minerality. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, leading to a long, elegant finish with a refreshing acidity.
The estate’s vineyards are planted on steep, blue granite slopes that define the unique terroir of Côte de Brouilly, producing wines of intensity, freshness, and mineral elegance. The focus is on Gamay, crafted into reds that combine vibrant fruit, floral aromatics, and fine tannins, with an ageing potential far beyond the expectations of most Beaujolais wines.
Under the stewardship of Claude Geoffray and his son Claude-Edouard, Château Thivin embraces traditional methods, including hand harvesting, semi-carbonic maceration, and ageing in large oak foudres, ensuring wines that are both authentic and terroir-driven.
Internationally acclaimed, Château Thivin is praised by critics for producing serious, structured Beaujolais that rivals top Burgundy, making it a favorite among sommeliers and collectors.
