Wine Region: Roussillon France
Grape:100% Grenache
Tasting notes: While specific tasting notes for the 2023 vintage are limited, previous vintages of Jeunes Vignes Rouge have exhibited complex aromas of blackberry, black cherry, citrus, violet, plum, and peel. On the palate, these wines are medium-bodied with intense fruit flavors, lively acidity, and a silky texture, often revealing tertiary sensations such as licorice, meat, and earth as they evolve.
About the winery: Clos du Rouge Gorge, managed by Cyril Fhal since the early 2000s, is located in Latour-de-France, Roussillon. Fhal cultivates appoximately 7.5 hectares of vineyards using biodynamic practices, focusing on indigenous grap varieties such a Carignan, Grenache, and Maccabeau. The vineyards are situated at altitudes between 150 and 200 meters on diverse soils, including schist and gneiss, which contribute to the wines' freshness and minerality. Fhal's meticulous approach in both the vineyard and cellar results in wines that are elegant, balanced, and expressive of their terroir.
