Tasting notes
The 2017 Domaine des Cambes opens with a beautifully nuanced, almost Burgundy-like bouquet, offering pure notes of blackberry, briary, and clove. Though more restrained than its sibling Domaine de l’Aurage, it reveals impressive aromatic depth with time in the glass.
On the palate, there's an appealing edginess and a subtle marine character — hints of Japanese nori adding complexity to the dusky black fruit. The finish lingers with touches of dark chocolate and spice, making this a distinctive and contemplative Right Bank wine.

More About The Winery
Domaine de Cambes is the lesser-known jewel of Bordeaux’s Right Bank, crafted by the legendary winemaker François Mitjavile, also behind Château Tertre Roteboeuf. Situated just outside the Saint-Émilion appellation on the slopes overlooking the Dordogne River, Domaine de Cambes benefits from the same meticulous care and philosophy that have made Mitjavile’s wines world-renowned.
The vineyard’s limestone and clay soils combined with François’ unique approach — late harvesting for full ripeness, gentle extractions, and long oak ageing — create wines of remarkable depth, velvety texture, and aromatic complexity. The blend is typically dominated by Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, delivering a style that is both powerful and refined.
Often described as a “baby Tertre Roteboeuf”, Domaine de Cambes offers a glimpse into Mitjavile’s singular vision at a more accessible price point, making it a favourite among sommeliers and collectors worldwide.
