Wine Region: Bordeaux, Saint-Estephe - France
Grapes:Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
Tasting Notes: A very harmonious wine, well supported by elegant tannins.
This 2018 is a treat. A beastly leather nose with woody and spicy notes. It has a gorgeous, beautifully defined bouquet with blackberry, cigar box and smoky aromas that gently unfold in the glass. A beastly leather nose with woody and spicy notes.
Utterly seductive, this is a temptress from Saint-Estephe!
Perfect with grilled red meat, a duck breast, but also a lamb shoulder with candied garlic.
About the winery: Historically owned by the Marcelis family, passionate about viticulture, Chateau Moutinot is now run by the Helfrich family. The property concerned with respect for the environment is committed to an approach with a high environmental value and promotes a living land, where human intervention on the vine is limited to what is strictly necessary, with respect for flora and fauna but also for the health of farmers and consumers.
The soils in Saint-Estephe have poor drainage, which delays ripening, and often results in wines with higher acidity than those from further south in the Medoc.
The wine of Chateau Moutinot is an elegant wine, with all the characteristics of the appellation.
