Tasting notes
Beautiful notes of black fruits and in particular of blackcurrant, on herbal aromas. A great amplitude in mouth with silky tannins.
More About The Winey
With a history dating back to 1645, the Muzard family has cultivated vines in Santenay for nine generations. The estate was formally structured in the 1960s by Lucien Muzard, who expanded holdings through rentals and acquisitions. Today, the domaine is run by Claude and Hervé Muzard, who manage 16 hectares of vineyards across Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Pommard, with around 5% dedicated to white wines.
The domaine balances traditional methods — manual harvests, careful destemming, and oak ageing — with modern precision, including small-crate harvesting, sorting tables, and temperature-controlled fermentations. Ageing takes place in oak barrels, with 30–40% new oak depending on the vintage, bringing both structure and finesse.
The wines of Domaine Lucien Muzard are admired for their authentic expression of Burgundy terroir, from the supple, approachable reds of Santenay to the more structured and age-worthy cuvées from Chassagne and Pommard.
