Tasting notes:On the nose, it expresses aromas of dark fruit (blueberry, blackberry) with smoky and spicy notes. On the palate, the tannins are beautifully refined, the texture is delicate and the length is noticeable.
The vineyard of « Servoisine » is located in North of Givry, near the Premier Cru « Clos du Cellier aux Moines » Vines are older than 45 years.
About the winery:
Domaine de la Ferteis an historical wine producer in the Burgundyregion of France, owned by theDevillardfamily, who also runs Domaine des Perdrixin Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine de la Garenneand Chateau de Chamireyin Mercurey. The abbey after which the property was names was founded in 1113 under theCistercian Orderand the monks living here soon began to plant vines in Givry. The abbey was acquired by the Thenard family in 1793 and passed down, along with some of the surrounding vineyards.
The estate currently spans over6.25 acresof land. The terroir of the GivryVillageandGivry Premier Cruappellations, with their clay-limestone soils, is highly regarded, especially on the hills with southeastern and southern exposure. It is here that we find the estate’s 2.5-acre vineyard inLa Servoisine, a prestigious Premier Cru that belonged to the monks back in 1170. The vines, around 35 years old on average, are planted at a high density, making for wines of high quality. These 100%Pinot Noirwines are known for their beautiful dark garnet colour and their notes of black fruit and ink on the nose. Rich and powerful on the palate, they offer a magnificently long and generous finish.Domaine de la Fertewines are meant to be aged, developing beautiful in the bottle over the course of a decade or more.
