"At the time it was shown as a barrel sample in early 2007, this was the best wine of 2006. That accolade remains. It has all the power of the Cabernet Sauvignon in Pauillac, which was the greatest success of the vintage. That power comes from the dense tannins as well as the black plum and spice flavors and minerality. The texture becomes velvet, giving a final richness, but never losing its long aging potential. In a year that is good, but not at the top, Mouton has made a great wine."

"Deep dark ruby garnet, youthful reflections, violet rim. On the nose, fine, sweet cassis confit, fine spice notes, mineral undertones, a hint of blackberries. On the palate very elegant and rich in finesse, perfectly integrated tannins, almost red-berry fruit, balanced. The wine seems almost light-footed at first glance, but is profound and very finessed and is already very stimulating to drink, fine cassis in the aftertaste, very good freshness and length, great potential for the future. Exceptional precision."
About the winery: Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild bought the chateau in 1853 but the legend of "Mouton" began in 1922 with Baron Philippe de Rothschild. At the age of 21 and driven by ambition full of originality, Baron decided to devote his life to forge for the winery an identity and a worldwide fame, which, from its first hour, inspired a sense of pride for Bordeaux as a whole. In 1945, to celebrate the liberation, "V" for Victory crowns the label of the vintage, an initiative that will mark the beginning of a series of original works created each year by famous painters.
