Tasting notes
This is a Chablis to serve at a slightly warmer temperature as it really opened up over the hour it sat in the glass. Its initially floral aromas add a lightly earthy and chalky note as the wine warms. Pomelo, yellow current and white raspberries all surface, too. The palate is delicate and feathery, making this one of the more airy, elegant Preuses of the vintage.

'Derived from east- and west-facing parcels that were picked two days apart, Billaud's 2021 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir offers up aromas of peach, freshly baked bread, iodine, oyster shell and vine blossom, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping palate girdled by tangy acids and concluding with a long, chalky finish.' - William Kelley, Wine Advocate (Sep 2023)
More About The Winery
The Billaud family has been producing outstanding Chablis since 1815, and today Samuel Billaud, the 6th generation, is recognized as one of the region’s most talented winemakers. After establishing his own domaine in 2010, Samuel quickly rose from a “rising star” to being regarded among the very best in Chablis, alongside Raveneau and Dauvissat.
Samuel Billaud crafts terroir-driven wines of extraordinary precision and vibrancy. From the crisp, steely freshness of Petit Chablis to the depth and complexity of his Premier and Grand Crus, his wines crackle with minerality, tension, and elegance, perfectly capturing the essence of Chablis’ Kimmeridgian limestone soils.
International critics, including Neal Martin, consistently praise Billaud’s wines for their singular clarity and poise. They are the embodiment of purity, finesse, and ageing potential, making them highly sought after by collectors and sommeliers worldwide.
