Wine Region: Jura, Pupillin - France
Grape:100% Poulsard
Tasting notes:
From the steep, red clay slopes of Pupillin, Domaine de la Borde’s 2023 'Côte de Feule' Poulsard is a pure and lively expression of Jura. Farmed biodynamically and made without added sulfur, it shows delicate aromas of red berries, herbs, and earth. Light-bodied and vibrant, with soft tannins and a fresh, juicy finish, this is a soulful, energetic wine perfect for charcuterie, poultry, or soft cheeses — best enjoyed slightly chilled.
About the Winery:
Domaine de la Borde is a boutique, biodynamic winery based in Pupillin, in France’s Jura region. Founded in 2003 by Julien Mareschal — who shifted from a background in agriculture to viticulture — the estate covers around 5 hectares. The vineyards are planted on steep slopes at elevations between 300 and 450 meters, with a rich diversity of marl and limestone soils that shape the character of the wines.
Julien works with classic Jura varieties, including Poulsard, Trousseau, Savagnin, along with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. From the beginning, the domaine has been farmed organically, with biodynamic practices introduced in 2012. In the cellar, Julien uses only indigenous yeasts and keeps sulfur use to a minimum, aiming to capture the purest expression of the terroir.
Wines from Domaine de la Borde are celebrated for their authenticity, precision, and strong sense of place. Standout cuvées include "La Marcette" (Chardonnay), "Foudre à Canon" (Savagnin), and "Pinostradamus" (Pinot Noir).
