Tasting notes
The Yann Chave Hermitage Red 2020 presents a deep purple hue with dark ruby edges that hint at its youthful energy and concentration. On the nose, it is bold and expressive, delivering layered aromas of blackberries, cassis, cocoa powder, and black olive, underlined by notes of smoke, violet, cracked pepper, and a subtle touch of tobacco. A clear mineral core—a hallmark of Hermitage’s granite terroir—runs through the bouquet. The palate is full-bodied and finely textured, opening with ripe dark fruits before evolving into more savory, smoky nuances of dark chocolate and spice. The supple, integrated tannins provide a firm structure without overwhelming the palate, while bright acidity lends freshness and lift. The finish is long and resonant, marked by restrained power and promising excellent cellaring potential.
