Clair feels Grasses Têtes gives Marsannay’s ‘vin de garde’. From several parcels of old vines that total just over 2ha, fermentation was conducted using 50% whole clusters to bring freshness to the wine, and the result has a deep, almost black colour with aromas of concentrated blackberry fruit, notes of menthol and fresh flowers. The rich texture and firm tannins are balanced by admirable freshness to give the wine impressive length.

Made in 4 new barrels and one foudre so tasted from the latter. A fine bright purple. reductive, perhaps there are more lees in the big barrel. A significant weight of fruit here, plenty of raspberry in the mix, good acidity, a fine structure and excellent persistence. Drink from 2025-2030.
About the winery: One could say Bruno Clair is a vigneron’s vigneron. His wines are loved worldwide by everyone lucky enough to know them, and what’s truly impressive is the respect he garners within Burgundy, where his fellow growers consider him one of the greatest of their ranks.
Bruno produces wines that are loved for their purity of expression. They show no ego or even style, but just seem to be true to the essence of each individual vineyard.
