Château Lafon Rochet
Tracing its roots back to the 16th century, Château Lafon-Rochet is one of the historic great estates of Saint-Estèphe. Classified as a Quatrième Cru Classé (Fourth Growth) in the 1855 Classification, the estate occupies a privileged location in the Médoc, nestled between the legendary Cos d’Estournel and Château Lafite Rothschild.
The property remained in the Lafon family through centuries, including at the time of its classification, before passing to the Tesseron family, renowned for their fine Cognac, in the 1960s. Guy Tesseron transformed the estate, rebuilding both the cellars and château in the style of a 17th-century chartreuse manor, symbolizing a new era of quality and prestige.
The vineyard’s gravel and clay-limestone soils, typical of Saint-Estèphe, yield wines with structure, depth, and ageing potential, balanced by elegance and finesse. Today, Lafon-Rochet is recognized as one of the benchmark producers of Saint-Estèphe, producing wines admired in France and across the world.
