Tasting notes
The 2022 Domaine de Montille Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru 'Le Cailleret' in Magnum features a clean, precise nose of crushed stone, white fruit, and subtle vervain. The palate is balanced and taut, offering a crisp line of acidity, profound minerality, and great aging potential through 2048.
The aroma is clean, understated, and well-defined, showing crushed stone, fresh citrus, white orchard fruits, and light herbal hints of vervain with a noble reduction. The palate offers a harmonious entry with a crisp, taut line of acidity, displaying high purity, finesse, and an airy texture backed by profound, chalky, stony minerality. The finish is long, complex, and penetrating, carrying an intellectual weight that rewards patience.
More About The Winery
The De Montille family has been a cornerstone of Burgundy for centuries, but the domaine's reputation was firmly established in 1947, when Hubert de Montille inherited vineyards in Volnay. Hubert's wines became legendary for their austere, structured style, built for long ageing.
Since the 1990s, Etienne de Montille has led the estate into a new era. Expanding into Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and beyond, he also integrated the former Château de Puligny-Montrachet holdings, creating one of the most impressive portfolios in the Côte d'Or.
Pioneering organic farming since 1995 and biodynamic practices since 2005, Domaine de Montille is now admired for wines that are both authentic and generous. The reds are vinified with whole clusters for aromatic depth and finesse, while the whites display precision, minerality and purity.
Today, Domaine de Montille stands as one of Burgundy's great names, producing world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that perfectly express their terroirs and continue to captivate collectors worldwide.
