The 2022 Clos du Rouge Gorge “Vieilles Vignes” is a distinguished biodynamic red from Roussillon, crafted by Cyril Fhal from ancient vines—some approaching 90 years old—primarily Carignan with Grenache. Sourced from schist-rich hillside vineyards, the wine embodies the domaine’s signature style: purity, finesse, and remarkable drinkability. Aromas of red and black berries unfold alongside notes of violet, white pepper, and Mediterranean herbs. Clos du Rouge Gorge, managed by Cyril Fhal since the early 2000s, is located in Latour-de-France, Roussillon. Fhal cultivates appoximately 7.5 hectares of vineyards using biodynamic practices, focusing on indigenous grap varieties such a Carignan, Grenache, and Maccabeau. The vineyards are situated at altitudes between 150 and 200 meters on diverse soils, including schist and gneiss, which contribute to the wines' freshness and minerality. Fhal's meticulous approach in both the vineyard and cellar results in wines that are elegant, balanced, and expressive of their terroir.
