Domaine de Villargeau

Coteaux du Giennois

The Domain

Heirs to several generations of farmer–winegrowers, brothers Jean-Fernand and François decided in 1991 to clear old vineyard parcels where flint-rich soils offered an ideal expression for Sauvignon Blanc. Year after year, the Domaine de Villargeau vineyard grew and diversified with the planting of Pinot Noir and Gamay, completing the varietal trilogy of the Coteaux du Giennois appellation.

Continuing the family tradition, Marc joined the estate in 2002 after extensive studies in viticulture and formative experiences in Vosne-Romanée and other vineyards across France and beyond.

In 2020, Christophe—originally from the Bordeaux wine region—joined Domaine de Villargeau, bringing with him a wealth of expertise gained from working in various renowned vineyards, both in France and abroad.

The Style

After gaining winemaking experience in Burgundy, Languedoc, and New Zealand, Marc joined the family estate in 2002, overseeing everything from vineyard management to winemaking and sales. Whether you meet him during your visit to Villargeau or at a tasting somewhere in France, you’ll quickly see that Villargeau wines are his true passion.

Yves arrived at Villargeau by a very different path: after years spent improving brewing barley production in Eastern Europe and two years collaborating with farmers on Peru’s Altiplano, he brought his expertise in plant diversity, biodiversity protection, and natural balance—his true element—to the domaine.

An agricultural engineer by training, Christophe honed his viticultural skills first in Bordeaux, then in Champagne. Two years in the Centre-Loire as technical manager for Sauvignon Blanc vine plant production gave him the desire to become a winegrower himself. If you see him at Villargeau, ask him about the vines—he’ll have all the answers.
