Tasting notes

"A dense, driven and juicy red with aromas of sweet cherries, warm herbs and sweet spices, following through to a full body with plush tannins. Structured, with a dense core of berries and a generous, fruity finish. Drink now." - James Suckling

More About The Winery

Founded in 1826 by Mathieu Jaume, Domaine du Grand Veneur has grown into one of the leading family estates of the southern Rhône Valley. Today, the estate is managed by the 5th and 6th generations  Alain Jaume and his children Christophe, Sébastien, and Hélène — who continue a tradition of crafting wines that combine heritage, terroir, and modern precision.

Based in the northern part of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the domaine spans 225 acres across four appellations: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône (including Les Champauvins), Lirac, and Vacqueyras. While historically known for its whites, since 1995 the focus has been on powerful and expressive reds, alongside fresh whites and elegant rosés.

All vineyards are farmed under certified organic agriculture, with practices that include light plowing, natural compost, controlled yields, green harvesting, and meticulous hand harvesting and sorting. This commitment to detail ensures wines of concentration, finesse, and terroir expression.
