Tasting notes
From 75-year-old vines on clay soils laced with shale. Vibrant straw with green-gold reflections, it offers complex aromas of citrus and orchard fruit, lemon, pear, peach and honey, layered with minerality and subtle oak. The palate is round and creamy, lifted by mouth-watering acidity, making for a racy, multi-layered Pouilly-Fuissé that expresses the grandeur of this site. In magnum it will age even more gracefully; serve at 10-12°C with lobster, scallops, roast poultry or creamy fish dishes.
About the Winery
Domaine du Roc des Boutires lies in the village of Pouilly, in the heart of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation near the famous Roche de Solutré. Its name comes from the old French word “boutière”, a small road once used by mule drivers to carry oil and wine. The domaine farms around 4.2 hectares, and all its wines come exclusively from estate vineyards.
Aux Bouthières is a tiny 0.65-hectare plot at the northern end of an east-facing slope of premier cru sites running from Fuissé, and was among the 22 vineyards promoted to Premier Cru status in 2020.
