Grape
100% Gamay
Tasting notes
Classic Fleurie with real class and depth. The nose is beautifully perfumed with red fruit and floral notes, and the palate shows balanced, generous fruit underpinned by fine-grained tannins and a vibrant backbone of acidity. Elegant and structured, it is the most powerful and age-worthy wine of the estate. Enjoy slightly cool with roast chicken, duck or lamb.
About the Winery
Domaine Grégoire Hoppenot was founded in Fleurie in 2018 and was named the Revue du Vin de France's discovery of the year in 2021. Grégoire farms his vineyards organically and vinifies parcel by parcel, crafting perfumed, supple and precise Gamay from some of the best sites in Fleurie and Morgon.
Clos de l'Amandier is the estate's flagship: a small monopole of around 0.75 hectares at the south-eastern end of the Poncié climat, one of Fleurie's finest. Its steep south to south-west facing slope, between 280 and 395 metres, sits on granitic sand over granite bedrock and is earmarked for Premier Cru status.
