Tasting notes

The bouquet is complex and intense, opening with vibrant red fruits like raspberry and red berries alongside deeper notes of blackberry and black plum, all framed by a distinctive chalky minerality. Nuances of crushed flowers, violet, pain d’épice, white pepper, and a subtle touch of oak add further dimension. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, generous, and pure, with silky, fine-grained, almost powdery tannins. A creamy interplay of blue, black, and red berries unfolds with a saline edge and a depth that expands toward the finish. Less austere than previous vintages, it carries an effortless sense of harmony. The finish is long, persistent, and balanced, tautly muscular with a savoury thread that lingers.

More About The Winery

Founded in 1925, Domaine Henri Gouges is one of the most iconic estates of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy. With 14.5 hectares of prime vineyards, including seven renowned Premier Cru sites, the domaine has built a reputation for crafting age-worthy, terroir-driven Pinot Noir of incredible precision and purity.

Henri Gouges was among the pioneers of estate bottling in Burgundy, beginning in 1933 alongside estates like Marquis d’Angerville. His philosophy of low yields and meticulous vineyard care set the tone for generations to come. Today, the domaine is run by the third and fourth generations — Pierre and Christian Gouges, together with Pierre’s son Gregory, who oversees winemaking.

These are profound, expressive Burgundies that marry power with elegance. Dark fruit, spice, and mineral undertones reflect the limestone-rich terroirs, while the long aging potential makes them prized additions to serious collectors’ cellars.
