Grape
100% Grenache Noir
Tasting notes
A sweet red wine (vin doux naturel) bottled young to capture its fresh, vibrant fruit. Deep in colour, it shows brandied cherry, black fruits and red berries with spice, dried fruit and garrigue notes. Silky and luscious on the palate, its sweetness is balanced by fine tannins and lively acidity, leading to a remarkably long finish. Serve slightly cool with dark chocolate desserts, red-fruit tarts, blue cheese or sweet-and-savoury dishes.
About the Winery
Mas Amiel lies in Maury, in Roussillon, protected by the Corbières hills to the north and the first slopes of the Pyrenees to the south. Its story begins in 1816, when engineer Raymond Étienne Amiel won the first 10 hectares of vines over a game of cards, and today it is the largest estate in the Maury cru, with around 100 hectares of vines.
Mas Amiel is a leading name for both the famous sweet wines of Maury and its dry reds and whites, and the estate is certified organic and farmed biodynamically. Its Maury Vintage is made from Grenache Noir grown on black schist, with fermentation stopped early to keep the grape's natural sweetness.
