91/100 - Wine Spectator
"This wine shows a complex bouquet of dark fruits, tobacco, and cedar. It has a firm structure with refined tannins and a long finish. "
About the winery: Located 11 kilometres from the centre of Bordeaux in the appellation of Pessac-Leognan, Château Olivier dates back to the Middle Ages. In 1867 Alexandre de Bethmann became mayor of Bordeaux and his family quickly acquired the estate. Today the Bethmann family still own the domaine and entrusts all of the estates management to Laurent Lebrun, who at 38 has experience in France, USA and Australia as an agricultural engineer and oenologist. In 1953 Chateau Olivier received official classification for both its red and white wines and the vineyards of the estate have seen considerable work and investment in the last few years.
