Chateau d'Yquem

Recognized as the only estate ranked Premier Cru Supérieur in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, Château d’Yquem is widely regarded as the greatest sweet wine in the world. Its history dates back to the late 16th century, and for centuries it has stood as the benchmark of luxury, rarity, and longevity in Bordeaux.

Located on the highest point of the Sauternes appellation, the estate spans over 100 hectares of vines, primarily Sémillon (80%) and Sauvignon Blanc (20%). Thanks to a unique microclimate, the grapes are affected by Botrytis cinerea (noble rot) and harvested berry by berry in multiple meticulous passes. This painstaking process yields wines of unparalleled concentration, richness, and freshness, capable of ageing for decades — and in great vintages, even centuries.

Alongside its legendary sweet wine, Yquem also produces the rare dry white “Y de Yquem”, a cuvée of remarkable finesse and elegance.
