Tasting notes

Clos des Fées “Les Sorcières” Rouge 2024 is a convivial, pleasure-driven wine that embodies the spirit of the Roussillon. Deep purple in color, it reveals an expressive nose of ripe red fruits and Mediterranean garrigue. The palate is suave, juicy, and generous, perfectly balanced between vibrant fruit, soft tannins, and a refreshing, lightly mentholated finish. A true emblematic cuvée of the estate, it delivers exceptional value and is the ideal bottle to share with friends.

More About The Winery

Founded in 1998 by Hervé Bizeul, Domaine du Clos des Fées has become one of the most defining estates of Roussillon. A former sommelier and wine writer, Bizeul approached viticulture with a clear ambition: to reveal the true potential of this often underestimated region.

The vineyards are spread across some of the most dramatic terroirs of Roussillon, with old vines rooted in schist, limestone, and clay-limestone soils, often at altitude. The harsh, dry climate combined with low yields results in wines of natural concentration, yet Bizeul’s philosophy is always centred on balance, freshness, and precision.

Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah form the backbone of the reds, expressed here with a level of refinement that challenges traditional perceptions of the region. The wines show deep dark fruit, garrigue, spice, and mineral tension, supported by structured yet polished tannins.

Iconic cuvées such as La Petite Sibérie illustrate the estate’s ability to produce wines of remarkable depth and ageing potential, while more approachable bottlings like Les Sorcières capture the vibrant, immediate charm of Roussillon.

What sets Clos des Fées apart is its dual identity: wines of power and Mediterranean generosity, yet crafted with a Burgundian sense of precision and detail. Today, it stands as a benchmark for the region—proof that Roussillon can deliver wines of both intensity and elegance at the highest level.
