Tasting notes
The 2022 Côte de Nuits-Villages Rouge from Maison Henri Gouges is a vibrant and precise expression of Pinot Noir. The nose opens with pure red fruit aromas of cherry and raspberry, complemented by subtle earthy notes of forest floor and sous-bois. Floral nuances of violet and potpourri add elegance, while a chalky mineral edge brings freshness.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and well balanced, with fine, powdery tannins, gentle spice, and a clean, saline finish. Less austere than previous vintages, it offers immediate harmony while retaining structure and excellent mid-term aging potential.

More About The Winery
Founded in 1925, Domaine Henri Gouges is one of the most iconic estates of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy. With 14.5 hectares of prime vineyards, including seven renowned Premier Cru sites, the domaine has built a reputation for crafting age-worthy, terroir-driven Pinot Noir of incredible precision and purity.
Henri Gouges was among the pioneers of estate bottling in Burgundy, beginning in 1933 alongside estates like Marquis d’Angerville. His philosophy of low yields and meticulous vineyard care set the tone for generations to come. Today, the domaine is run by the third and fourth generations — Pierre and Christian Gouges, together with Pierre’s son Gregory, who oversees winemaking.
These are profound, expressive Burgundies that marry power with elegance. Dark fruit, spice, and mineral undertones reflect the limestone-rich terroirs, while the long aging potential makes them prized additions to serious collectors’ cellars.
