Tasting notes
An elegant and finely balanced Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the 2021 displays a bright garnet hue and a refined aromatic profile of ripe red fruits—cherry and strawberry—layered with fresh herbal notes, mint, and subtle spice. The palate is supple and harmonious, with silky tannins framing flavors of dark berries, clove, and dried herbs. The finish is long and precise, marked by a gentle peppery lift. A classic, fresh expression of the appellation with excellent cellaring potential of 10 years or more.
More About The Winery
With a history stretching back over five centuries, Château La Nerthe is one of the most iconic estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Nestled among olive trees, cypresses, and century-old pines just south of the village, La Nerthe embodies both the beauty and the heritage of Provence. Its vineyards, framed by the Rhône River to the west and Mont Ventoux to the east, benefit from exceptional terroirs of galets roulés (large rounded stones), sand, and clay-limestone soils.
The domaine cultivates the traditional varieties of the appellation — Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Roussanne, Clairette, and others — producing both powerful, age-worthy reds and elegant whites of great finesse. Known for their balance of richness, freshness, and complexity, La Nerthe’s wines are admired worldwide as benchmark examples of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
A pioneer in sustainable viticulture, the estate is fully certified organic, ensuring that every bottle reflects the integrity of its land and the legacy of its history.
