Tasting notes
A regal wine and one of the stars of the 2017 vintage in Pomerol. Deep garnet-purple, it sings of crushed blueberries, mulberries and ripe plums with violets, chocolate box, rose-hip tea and a waft of menthol. Bright, floral and beautifully lifted, the palate is polished and nuanced, with silky tannins, a minerally lift and real staying power. In magnum it will age even more gracefully. Serve with roast duck, lamb or truffled dishes.
About the Winery
Château La Conseillante is one of the great names of Pomerol, owned by the Nicolas family since 1871 and famous for its silky, perfumed and elegant wines. Its vineyard lies on the plateau of Pomerol, bordering Saint-Émilion and close to Cheval Blanc and L'Évangile, on a mix of gravel, clay and sand.
In 2017, spring frost and drought reduced yields, but the estate produced one of the most acclaimed wines of the vintage, aged in 70% new oak.
