Tasting notes
Dark red in colour, dense yet elegant, with blackberry, blueberry and black cherry fruit, sweet spices and smoky notes. The palate is rich and harmonious, with ripe, refined tannins and a long finish with a fresh, minty touch. Made from whole clusters and aged partly in new barrels and partly in foudres, it has great ageing potential. Serve with lamb, game or beef stew.
About the Winery
Château La Nerthe is one of the oldest and most prestigious estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with a history stretching back several centuries. Its Cuvée des Cadettes, first made at the end of the 19th century, is considered the oldest special cuvée of the appellation.
Cadettes comes from a single, historic vineyard of old vines, many 85 to 100 years old, on sandy-clay soils near the château. The grapes are hand-harvested, hand-sorted and co-fermented, and the wine is made only in the best vintages.
