Grape
100% Gamay
Tasting notes
The pinnacle of Château Thivin: a deep, racy and elegant Gamay. Fresh, pure aromas of morello cherry and sweet plum are complemented by subtle oak that will integrate further with time. The palate shows fresh, delicate stone fruit, marked acidity and long, fine tannins. Lovely now with a little air, it will also age well. Serve with roast poultry, pork or beef.
About the Winery
Château Thivin is the benchmark estate of the Côte de Brouilly, on the slopes of Mont Brouilly, an ancient volcano in Beaujolais. Zaccharie and Marguerite Geoffray bought the property and its two hectares of vines at auction in 1877, and the Geoffray family has run it ever since, now in its sixth generation with Claude-Édouard Geoffray. The estate is certified organic.
The Cuvée Zaccharie, named after the founder, comes from old vines on the volcanic blue stone and clay of Mont Brouilly and is aged in barrel, making it the estate's most structured and age-worthy Côte de Brouilly.
