Tasting notes
Fragrant and focused, the Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage Rouge 2023 is a benchmark expression of Northern Rhône Syrah at its most alive. Whole-cluster fermentation lends a lifted, peppery energy to the nose, ripe red fruit and violet threaded with the iron-tinged earthiness that defines the appellation. The palate is fresh and mineral-driven, with a structure that speaks to both the vintage's vitality and Graillot's unfussy, terroir-first approach. Certified organic, and built with the kind of quiet confidence that has made this domaine a reference point in Crozes-Hermitage for decades.
More About The Winery
Founded in 1985, Domaine Alain Graillot has become one of the most respected names in the Northern Rhône, particularly in the appellation of Crozes-Hermitage. Alain Graillot, a passionate vigneron who left a career in the chemical industry to pursue his love of wine, quickly built a reputation for producing Syrah wines of purity, freshness, and finesse, admired by sommeliers and collectors worldwide.
The estate’s vineyards lie on the alluvial plains of the Rhône River, with gravel, sand, and limestone soils that impart elegance and minerality to the wines. The domaine is renowned for its use of whole-cluster fermentation, native yeasts, and minimal intervention, resulting in wines that are vibrant, aromatic, and true to terroir.
Today, the domaine is run by Alain’s sons, Maxime and Antoine Graillot, who continue their father’s philosophy while refining the style. In addition to the benchmark Crozes-Hermitage Rouge, the domaine also produces highly regarded Crozes-Hermitage Blanc from Marsanne and Roussanne, and limited bottlings of Saint-Joseph and Cornas.
