Tasting notes
Poulsard is the Jura's signature red grape, giving a pale, delicate wine. Expect a light garnet colour, a fresh nose of red berries, cherry and subtle spice, and a light, juicy and airy palate with fine tannins and a savoury, earthy edge. Best served slightly cool, it is lovely with charcuterie, roast poultry, mushrooms and Comté.
About the Winery
Domaine Courbet is a family estate based in Névy-sur-Seille, in the heart of the Jura, with vineyards split between Château-Chalon and the Côtes du Jura. The family works the classic Jura grapes, Chardonnay, Savagnin, Poulsard and Trousseau, producing everything from fresh topped-up whites and delicate reds to traditional oxidative wines and Vin Jaune.
This Poulsard comes from vines around Baume-les-Messieurs, one of the most beautiful corners of the Jura, on the region's characteristic marl and limestone soils.
