Tasting notes

"Les Loups" is an assemblage by nature and conviction, La Riotte, Les Sorbès, Les Blanchards, and Le Village brought together under one label by one of Morey's most storied addresses. The 2023 was vinified with 40% whole cluster, a choice that announces itself immediately: there is a wildness to the nose, a leafy, almost foresty quality beneath the dark cherry and violet, that keeps the wine from ever feeling too polished. Eighteen months in oak, 40% new, has given it structure and depth without obscuring that underlying finesse. On the palate, the tannins are fine-grained and patient, the mid-palate lifted and precise, the finish long with a faint spice that lingers. This is Morey at its most characterful, less severe than Gevrey, less silky than Chambolle, but with a tension and personality entirely its own. Drink from 2027, or open now with something worth the occasion.

More About The Winery

The legendary Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru represents some of the finest vineyard land in all of Burgundy. Nestled at the top of the slope in Morey-Saint-Denis, this prestigious terroir has long been celebrated for producing Pinot Noir of elegance, depth, and longevity.

Today, the vineyard is in its prime: the youngest vines are over 30 years old, while the oldest parcels have surpassed 60 years, bringing extraordinary concentration and balance to the wines. This combination of heritage, mature vines, and exceptional terroir makes Clos des Lambrays one of Burgundy’s most revered sites.
