Grape
100% Cabernet Franc
Tasting notes
Reserved at first, then opening to a complex nose of spice, flowers and minerality. The palate is full of wild black fruits, liquorice and fresh leather, with a straight, noble structure, fine tannins and a very long finish. A grand-cru-level Chinon with the potential to age for around 20 years. Decant when young and serve with roast meats, duck or aged cheeses.
About the Winery
Philippe and Claude Alliet have run their family domaine since 1978 and are now joined by their son Pierre. Often mentioned alongside Bernard Baudry as one of the finest growers in Chinon, they are known for low yields, careful farming and pure, age-worthy Cabernet Franc.
The Coteau de Noiré is their most celebrated site: a steep, fully south-facing slope of around 2 hectares with clay and limestone soils. Often described as a true “grand cru” of Chinon, it produces the estate's most powerful and complex wine, fermented with native yeasts and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
