Grape
Grenache Noir with a small share of co-planted Syrah
Tasting notes
A fresh, elegant dry red from Maury. The nose is lifted by citrus zest alongside floral notes, cherries and dark berries. The palate is juicy and delicate, with succulent red and black fruit, balanced acidity and a long, harmonious finish. A refined, almost northern expression of Grenache that pairs well with grilled lamb, duck or Mediterranean dishes.
About the Winery
Mas Amiel lies in Maury, in Roussillon, between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees. Its story begins in 1816, when engineer Raymond Étienne Amiel won the first 10 hectares of vines from the Bishop of Perpignan over a game of cards. Since Olivier Decelle took over in 1999, the estate has become a benchmark for both the sweet and dry wines of Maury, with vineyards farmed organically and biodynamically.
Vers le Nord comes from a 2-hectare plot in the La Devèze sector, planted mainly with Grenache Noir and a little co-planted Syrah. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted twice before vinification.
