Tasting notes
Deep red in colour, with a bouquet of black fruits, leather and spice. The palate is rich and velvety, with well-integrated tannins and fresh acidity, finishing long with notes of dark chocolate and ripe fruit. From the excellent 2015 vintage and now around ten years old, it is drinking well; serve at 16-18°C with duck breast, roast red meats or mature cheeses.
About the Winery
Château Calon-Ségur is a Third Growth (Troisième Cru Classé) of Saint-Estèphe and the most northerly of the estates classified in 1855. The heart on its label honours the Marquis de Ségur, who also owned Lafite and Latour but declared that his heart belonged to Calon.
Saint-Estèphe de Calon Ségur is the estate's third wine, sourced mainly from its younger vines and made for freshness, fruit and earlier enjoyment. From the 2019 vintage it was renamed Le C de Calon Ségur.
