An alluring nose of orange rind, crushed violets, white pepper and raspberry compote, with a soft hint of cedar. The palate is medium-bodied and fruit-forward, building in richness while staying wonderfully fresh, with nuanced aromatic complexity and real refinement. A Hermitage to cellar for many years, best with lamb, beef onglet or game.
About the Winery
Domaine Yann Chave is a family estate in Mercurol, in the heart of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation in the Northern Rhône. Yann took over from his father Bernard and has built the domaine into one of the region's most respected names for pure, precise Syrah. The estate covers around 20 hectares and is certified organic.
Its Hermitage comes from a small holding of about 1.2 hectares on the famous Hermitage hill, where vines over 40 years old are rooted in loess soils.
