Gevrey-Chambertin's 'Les Cazetiers' has a reputation for muscle, but the 2023 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru 'Les Cazetiers' leans into elegance instead — a structured Pinot Noir wrapped in a floral bouquet of dark cherries, raspberries, and violets, carried by a silky palate, fine-grained tannins, and a long, mineral-driven finish.

In the glass it's luminous ruby red, edged with violet reflections. The aroma has real purity and charm: dark cherries, blackcurrant, and wild raspberries, lifted by violet notes and hints of earth, spice, and subtle oak. The palate is medium-bodied and mouth-filling, opening silky before lively fruit sweetness settles into fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. The domaine’s history traces back to Joseph Clair, founder of the famed Domaine Clair-Daü in 1919. After its dissolution in 1985, Bruno Clair reassembled key parcels from his family’s vineyards in 1986, gradually expanding to include iconic terroirs such as Clos St-Jacques, Vosne-Romanée, and Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle.
