Tasting notes
First Flight is the Botts' bright, approachable introduction to Northern Rhône Syrah. Fully destemmed and raised in older casks, it shows fresh red fruit, raspberry and violets with a touch of pepper and spice, a silky texture and juicy acidity. Picked early for freshness, it drinks like a baby Côte-Rôtie and is delicious young. Serve slightly cool at 15 to 17°C with grilled meats, charcuterie or roast chicken.
About the Winery
Domaine Graeme & Julie Bott is one of the most exciting young estates in the Northern Rhône. Graeme, a New Zealander, came to the region to discover Syrah and spent eight years at Domaine Stéphane Ogier, where he met Julie, a native of the Northern Rhône.
In 2015 they bought their first house and discovered its garden sat on a prime Condrieu hillside in Vérin, which they restored and planted. Today they farm vines in Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph and Seyssuel, making small-batch, handcrafted wines prized for their purity and finesse.
