Grape
100% Grüner Veltliner
Tasting notes
Made from old vines (Alte Reben) in the mineral Ried Bach. This cuvée typically shows delicate meadow herbs, yellow apple and fresh orange zest, with hints of apricot and a subtle touch of tobacco spice. Juicy and elegant with a creamy core, fine acidity and a mineral backbone, it finishes with a zesty lime and lemon-balm freshness. A full-bodied Grüner Veltliner made for the table: lovely with Wiener schnitzel, roast pork, grilled fish or lightly spiced Asian dishes.
About the Winery
Domäne Roland Chan is a boutique estate in the heart of Austria's Wachau, founded in 2017 as the long-held dream of Roland Müksch and his family, and named with the family name of his wife, Sharon Chan. Based in Wösendorf, it tends just over 2 hectares on the Wachau's famous dry-stone terraces, across four sites: Achleiten, Klaus, Bach and Höll.
The terraces are worked by hand with deep respect for nature, and the estate has been a member of Vinea Wachau since 2019. Its single-vineyard wines are bottled as Smaragd, the Wachau's top category for its ripest, most powerful dry wines with great ageing potential.
