What is Fine Wine?
Fine wine refers to wines produced in small quantities from exceptional terroirs, with the potential to age and develop complexity over time. The world's finest wines come predominantly from France — the great châteaux of Bordeaux, the legendary domaines of Burgundy, the grower Champagnes of the Côte des Blancs, the granite slopes of the Northern Rhône.
Unlike commercial wine, fine wine is not produced to a price point. It is produced to express a specific terroir, a specific vintage, a specific vision. The finest examples — Romanée-Conti, Pétrus, Salon, Haut-Brion Blanc — are produced in quantities of just a few hundred cases per year, and their prices on the secondary market reflect their rarity.
