Tasting notes
Stylistically close to the Grand Vin but with a higher share of Merlot, Carruades de Lafite offers classic Pauillac character of cassis, cedar and graphite. At over 30 years old, the 1994 is now a mature wine, where the fruit has softened and tertiary notes of cedar, tobacco, leather and earth come to the fore, with a gentle, fine-grained structure. Stand the bottle upright before serving, decant carefully off its sediment and enjoy with roast lamb, beef or aged cheeses.
About the Winery
Carruades de Lafite is the second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild, the legendary Pauillac First Growth owned by the Rothschild family. Its name comes from the Plateau des Carruades, a group of vineyard plots next to the château that Lafite acquired in 1845.
Made from specific plots and selected with the same care as the Grand Vin, Carruades offers a more approachable expression of Lafite's elegant, perfumed style.
