Tasting notes
The Fleur de Clinet 2019 (the second wine of Château Clinet from Pomerol) shows a ruby-red color, with rich aromas of red and black fruit, soft flowers, and sweet spices. The taste is round and smooth, with soft tannins, a fresh feel, and a long spicy finish.
From Pomerol, Bordeaux, France, mostly Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, around 13% to 14.5% alcohol. Best served at 16°C to 18°C.
The nose shows ripe cherries, blackberries, and plums mixed with violet petals and cedar. The palate is supple and luxurious, round on the tongue with silky tannins and bright freshness. The finish is long and persistent, leaving hints of dark spice and a clean mineral touch.
More About The Winery
Château Clinet is one of Pomerol's most celebrated estates, farmed on the plateau's prized clay-gravel soils close to Petrus and Vieux Château Certan. Since the late 1980s the property has built a reputation for rich, concentrated wines that helped define the modern style of Pomerol, with fruit sourced from old vines tended with low yields and meticulous plot-by-plot vinification.
The estate rose to international acclaim in the late 1980s and 1990s, becoming one of the wines that defined Pomerol's modern, richly concentrated style. Fleur de Clinet, the estate's second wine, draws from younger vines and offers an earlier-drinking expression of the same generous, plush character.
