Tasting notes

Captivating nose with a seductive bouquet: pastry aromas (clafoutis, muffin, cherries, blackberries) underscored by hints of leather and smoke. Delicate palate with a juicy attack followed by a beautiful tannic structure polished by a decade of aging, offering great length. The finish is salivating, revealing cherry pit, camphor, licorice, and spicy notes. A very fine wine suited for gastronomy, approaching its peak and representing its Châteauneuf-du-Pape terroir admirably.

More About The Winery

With a history stretching back over five centuries, Château La Nerthe is one of the most iconic estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Nestled among olive trees, cypresses, and century-old pines just south of the village, La Nerthe embodies both the beauty and the heritage of Provence. Its vineyards, framed by the Rhône River to the west and Mont Ventoux to the east, benefit from exceptional terroirs of galets roulés (large rounded stones), sand, and clay-limestone soils.

The domaine cultivates the traditional varieties of the appellation — Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Roussanne, Clairette, and others — producing both powerful, age-worthy reds and elegant whites of great finesse. Known for their balance of richness, freshness, and complexity, La Nerthe’s wines are admired worldwide as benchmark examples of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

A pioneer in sustainable viticulture, the estate is fully certified organic, ensuring that every bottle reflects the integrity of its land and the legacy of its history.
