Tasting notes
The 2023 Domaine de Trévallon IGP Alpilles Blanc is a rare, structured Provence white wine blending Marsanne, Roussanne, Chardonnay, Clairette, and Grenache Blanc, with aromas of white peach, fresh almond, and honey, leading to a silky, mineral-driven palate and a long, savory, saline finish.
From IGP Alpilles, Provence, France, blending Marsanne, Roussanne, Chardonnay, Clairette, and Grenache Blanc at 14% alcohol, farmed organically on cool limestone terroir.
The aroma shows white peach, pear, citrus zest, acacia flower, fresh almond, and subtle herbal garrigue. The palate is rich, silky, and unctuous yet taut, balancing stone fruit and honeyed depth with chiseled, bright acidity. The finish is long, structured, and savory, with a distinct, noble saline bitterness.
More About The Winery
There is no person that has done more to elevate the quality and prestige of the wines of Les Baux de Provence than Eloi Dürrbach, who began planting vines in the three valleys (Tre Vallon) in 1973. 20 years later in 1993, the AOC legislation authorized a maximum of 20% Cabernet Sauvignon in the vineyards. The family chose to forego their appellation status and honor their blend, which had brought international attention to the appellation and to the domaine.
Today, the estate is heralded as a beacon for integrity and unwavering quality. Since their origin the vineyards have been managed organically, with an emphasis on deep root penetration and low yields. The winemaking is decidedly natural and non-interventionist, with whole cluster fermentation and ageing virtually all in neutral foudres.
This uncompromising stance — choosing to declassify rather than change the blend that made the estate famous — has become part of Trévallon's legend, and the wines are sought after by collectors precisely because they answer to nothing but their own terroir and the Dürrbach family's exacting standards.
