Grape
100% Pinot Noir
Tasting notes
Light ruby with purple tints. The nose offers black cherry and fresh raspberry, lifted by peony, violet, a hint of undergrowth and a mineral edge, with gentle spice emerging in the glass. The palate is clean and precise, with a silky texture, supple young tannins and lively acidity carrying through to a long, subtly saline finish. Enjoyable now after an hour in the decanter, it will gain complexity over the next decade. Pairs well with beef bourguignon, coq au vin or duck breast.
About the Winery
Domaine des Lambrays is one of the great historic estates of Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte de Nuits. Its name first appears in a deed from the Abbey of Cîteaux in 1365, and the estate is best known for the Clos des Lambrays, a walled Grand Cru of around 8.7 hectares that it owns almost entirely.
This village Morey-Saint-Denis comes from high-altitude parcels on rocky limestone above Clos de Tart and Clos des Lambrays, among the last grapes the domaine picks each year. The vineyards are farmed organically, and the wine is aged for 15 to 18 months in oak barrels.
