Tasting notes
Generous aromas of sweet ripe berries, white pepper and olive. The palate is rich and flavourful, medium to full-bodied, with firm, chewy tannins giving structure and length. A powerful, characterful Ningxia Cabernet rated 91 points by James Suckling. Serve at 15 to 18°C, ideally decanted, with grilled lamb, beef or braised dishes.
About the Winery
Domaine Fangsi is a young boutique “garage” winery in Ningxia's Helan Mountain East Foothill, China's most acclaimed wine region. It was founded in 2022 by a group of young tasters and winemakers who want to show what independent Chinese winegrowers can achieve on the world stage. The name “Buyaojing” is a playful phrase meaning both “no worries” and “don't stay at the bottom of the well”, encouraging people to move forward and see the wider world.
The estate's 10 hectares of vines grow on poor, stony gravel soils at the foot of the Helan Mountains, which shield the vineyards from cold north-westerly winds. With around 3,000 hours of sunshine a year and wide day-night temperature swings, the grapes ripen fully while keeping freshness. Cabernet Sauvignon is the domaine's main variety.
