Grape
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Marselan
Tasting notes
A generous red blend with aromas and flavours of blackberry, black plum and blueberry. Its Chinese name roughly asks "why give up?": the wine was born when the team refused to throw away grapes that were slightly imperfect or touched by soil at harvest, and gave them a second chance. Fruit-forward and easy to enjoy, it pairs well with grilled meats, roast duck and spiced dishes.
About the Winery
Domaine Fangsi is a young boutique “garage” winery in Ningxia's Helan Mountain East Foothill, China's most acclaimed wine region. It was founded in 2022 by a group of young tasters and winemakers who want to show what independent Chinese winegrowers can achieve on the world stage, with creative cuvée names and serious quality.
The estate's 10 hectares of vines grow on poor, stony gravel soils at the foot of the Helan Mountains, which shield the vineyards from cold north-westerly winds. With around 3,000 hours of sunshine a year and wide day-night temperature swings, the grapes ripen fully while keeping freshness.
