Grape
Syrah
Tasting notes
A beautifully perfumed Syrah with violets, raspberry and strawberry on the nose and a touch of blueberry. The palate is juicy and pure, plush yet vibrant, with a silky, fine texture and a peppery, mineral finish that reflects its schist terroir. A serious Northern Rhône red that stands comparison with good Côte-Rôtie. Decant and serve with lamb, game or grilled beef.
About the Winery
Domaine Graeme & Julie Bott is one of the most exciting young estates in the Northern Rhône. Graeme, a New Zealander, spent eight years at Domaine Stéphane Ogier, where he met Julie, a native of the region. They founded their domaine in 2015 with a hillside parcel in Condrieu and now farm vines in Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph and Seyssuel.
Kāmaka comes from the steep mica-schist slopes of Seyssuel, a historic terroir north of Côte-Rôtie that is being revived by a handful of growers. The vines were planted by hand, and the wine is aged in French oak barrels.
