Wine region: Alsace - France
Tasting notes: 'From a southeast-facing vineyard on a mixture of Muschelkalk limestone and Vosges sandstone and aged on the lees for about 18 months, the 2016 Riesling Grand Cru Pfingstberg is pure and intense on the precise and elegant, slightly flinty nose with its beautiful marille aromas. Tight, fresh and enormously long on the palate, this is a great dry Riesling with great depth, finesse and lingering salinity. The acidity is crystalline and more sandstone-driven than anything else. This wine has an unrivaled elegance, energy and tensioned vitality and shows no signs of drought stress, which we can find in many 2016s in Alsace. Zusslin's 2016 Pfingstberg reveals a certain phenolic grip on the finish, which makes this a great wine with food, especially fish but also white meat and, when matured, also with game. Don't miss it!' The Wine Advocate
