Grape
100% Grüner Veltliner
Tasting notes
From the steep, south-facing terraces of Ried Höll, the estate's warmest site. This cuvée typically opens with orange zest, yellow apple and ripe yellow tropical fruit such as mango and a hint of pineapple, with the variety's signature spice. Juicy, deep and elegant, with fresh acidity and fine white stone fruit, it finishes mineral and long with a lemony, slightly salty touch. Excellent with roast chicken, pork belly, Wiener schnitzel or Southeast Asian cuisine.
About the Winery
Domäne Roland Chan is a boutique estate in the heart of Austria's Wachau, founded in 2017 as the long-held dream of Roland Müksch and his family, and named with the family name of his wife, Sharon Chan. Based in Wösendorf, it tends just over 2 hectares on the Wachau's famous dry-stone terraces, across four sites: Achleiten, Klaus, Bach and Höll.
The estate looks after the entire south-facing side of Ried Höll, where Grüner Veltliner shows power and poise. The terraces are worked by hand, and its single-vineyard wines are bottled as Smaragd, the Wachau's top category for its ripest dry wines with great ageing potential.
