'A hidden gem that emerges from the cellar of Tertre Roteboeuf, the 2017 Roc De Cambes comes from a vineyard in the Cotes de Bourg region of Bordeaux, which is located north of Fronsac. It’s a superstar effort that boasts a deep purple hue as well as sumptuous notes of creme de cassis, white flowers, candle wax, and graphite. A powerful, full-bodied 2017 with plenty of background oak, a seamless texture, and a rare mix of power and elegance, count me impressed. It’s going to evolve for 10-15 years or more. Don’t miss a chance to grab a bottle if you can. '

' The 2017 Roc de Cambes is even better from bottle than it was from barrel. Rich, dense and explosive, with tremendous power the 2017 is positively stellar from the very first taste. Macerated dark cherries, sage, spice, star anise, orange zest, mint and new leather give the 2017 an exotic, racy feel that is hard to fully describe. In the glass, the 2017 possesses off the charts aromatic intensity and tons of pure fruit richness, while the 100% new oak is barely perceptible. Readers lucky enough to find it will enjoy a wine of tremendous character and personality. This is an absolutely stunning wine from Francois and Nina Mitjavile. (AG) '

'The 2017 Roc de Cambes is deep garnet-purple in color with a slightly reticent nose of blackberries, cassis and tar with nuances of pencil shavings, damp soil and dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, firm and grainy with great freshness and a long, lively finish. (LPB)'
About the Winery:
Located in the Côtes-de-Bourg appellation, at the foot of the citadel of Bourg, the Château du Roc de Cambes is one of the two estates of François Mitjaville. Comprising, from the Gironde, three successive slopes facing south, this estate that has crossed the centuries consists of an amphitheater of hillsides and a magnificent 14th century cellar. In his own particular style, François Mitjaville is devoted to the quality of his wines, which have enabled him to stand up to the great names of Bordeaux in blind tastings.
Located on a beautiful clay-limestone soil with a southern exposure, the vines of Roc de Cambes are the object of every attention to produce an exceptional and unique wine in the appellation. The control of yields (10 to 40hl/ha depending on the vintage) is essential (short and precise pruning, green harvesting etc...). The quality of the raw material is decisive and the traditional vinification only emphasizes and expresses the potential of the grapes.
